Cyberpunk 2077 has been out for a while now, complete with an expansive DLC and regular patches. It was the 1.6 Edgerunner patch that really changed things for us – making us ask: Is Cyberpunk 2077 good yet?
So, the Cyberpunk Edgerunners anime broke your heart? Yeah, mine too. Like any emotionally wrecked sane person, I dusted off the game on Steam and jumped into a new game with one question.
Is Cyberpunk 2077 Good Yet?
To be fair to the game, even at launch, despite all of the bugs, CD Project Red built an incredibly a e s t h e t i c world. From the neon lighting, giant holographic fish, to the array of futuristic yet similar to today’s world vehicles, I’ve never spent as much time taking screenshots in a game.
Edgerunners Update
New gigs, a whole new wardrobe system, upgraded arsenal, and cross-progression are just a few of the features that came along with the 1.6 Edgerunners update.
A small part of the update, but probably my favourite, was the introduction of Roach Race. Players can now approach any of the arcade cabinets placed throughout Night City and take control of Roach as she gallops her way through locations from the Witcher series.
The endless 2D scrolling platformer pays out high scorers in the form of Eurodollars and items. What’s more, you can even pick up Roach Race on iOS and Android and compete with players from across the world for a high score.
*From what we understand, no horses were placed onto roofs during the creation of Roach Race.
Finally, A Wardrobe!
It is no secret that Cyberpunk has some of the best clothing of any game I can think of. From a “Duolayer Polyamide Rocker Vest”, to a “Trilayer Hotpants with Micromesh,” it is not hard to make V look hot as all heck or completely unhinged.
The wardrobe allows you to change the appearance of your outfit without changing your Armor stats, meaning you can finally look good without compromising on combat. You can create up to six outfits using any clothing you’ve collected and switch between them in the inventory panel.
Nibbles
Arguably the most important part of the Edgerunners update was CD Project Red bringing Nibbles into a well-deserved spotlight. We’ve already had the chance to meet, pet, and adopt Nibbles. The new update allows us to take Nibbles into photo mode and pose across Night City.
Amongst plenty of other content, the Edgerunners updated added new weapons, gigs, and a whole host of fixes.

Previous Major Update
The previous major update was 2.1, which added a load of new content, in addition to fixing bugs and improving gameplay. New features include a nineteen-station metro city that you can access with a NCART City Pass, which you can choose to use as fast travel or actually ride the train and enjoy the view. It goes perfectly with the new music radio station, Radioport! What’s more, you can invite your love interest to hangout in any of the apartments, take part in replayable car races, and even go sightseeing with binoculars. This patch adds so much to Cyberpunk 2077, I have barely scratched the surface here.
You can read more about it on the Cyberpunk 2077 patch notes article on Steam (external link). There is even a whole section dedicated to accessibility.
Surprise Update 2.2!
While CD Projekt Red may have said they are done with updating Cyberpunk 2077, the surprise 2.2 update suggests otherwise! This update was dropped on December 10th 2024 – just in time for Christmas! – and lets you express yourself like never before.
The 2.2 patch includes over one hundred customisation options for V and has overhauled the Photo Mode, so you can properly show off your new look. On top of this, CrystalCoat compatibility has been added for select vehicles and there is a new TWINTONE colour scheme available on CrystalCoat-compatible vehicles. Drive around the Night City in style! Better yet, after act one Johnny Silverhand will sometimes appear in the passenger seat, commenting on and reacting to what’s happening. (This is the closest I will ever get to road tripping with Keanu Reeves!)
Of course, there are more quality-of-life adjustments that have been made, fixing known issues in both the base game and Phantom Liberty expansion.

Should You Buy Cyberpunk 2077?
So, is it worth it yet? Over the last week, I’ve replayed twenty-plus hours of the game, starting from the Nomad backstory and working through new and old content. Throughout the time I spent playing the game, there were some noticeable glitches and other oddities, but none that took me away from the story. Night City is genuinely full of life, and with constant patches fixing bugs and adding content, I’d say the game is worth picking up.
There’s no need to take my word for it either, the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account announced over 20 million copies of the game have been sold in 2022. This jump in sales is almost certainly thanks to the huge success of the Cyberpunk Edgerunners Anime on Netflix. Oh, and whilst we’re here, we’ve got plenty more to sink our teeth into with the Phantom Liberty DLC.
